HIDE AND REVEAL

Understanding the issue of points of view

2-4 hours
cinema, script, directing, stereotypes, different points of view, teamwork
tripod, camera, storyboard, markers, editing software, props (optional)

The participants are introduced to this session by watching a video by the Guardian. A trainer explains the basic frames used in filmmaking and photography as well the importance of the point of view of the camera. Then, in teams, the participants are asked to produce their own version on the subject of stereotypes. All teams brainstorm, complete a storyboard and choose the place and the props that they want to use. Then, each team uses a different recording medium (videocamera, DSLR, tablet and mobile phone) to shoot and with the use of basic video editing tools they create their own short video.
